I'm sure many of you heard this while you were growing up...”Good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!” Well, this old adage is no longer just a saying...it's fast becoming reality.
After nearly being eradicated over fifty years ago through the widespread use of the now banned chemical DDT, these nasty little critters have returned with a vengeance! Over the past decade, they have become resurgent to near epidemic proportions. Major cities such as New York City, Las Vegas, Cincinnati and Los Angeles (as well as many others) have been fighting an uphill battle against bed bugs and continue to do so today. But this problem does not only exist in large cities...bed bugs have spread almost everywhere across the United States. They do not discriminate against any certain social or economic status nor are they are result of uncleanliness. Bed bugs, quite literally, can be found anywhere!

WELCOME TO BUCKEYE BED BUG DETECTION, LLC!!!
In response to this exponential growth of bed bug infestations, we are here to provide you with the latest technology in this battle.....bed bug detection services by a nationally certified bed bug detection team. A trained pest control specialist has roughly a 30% chance of finding a bed bug infestation while searching a room over the course of several hours. Based on a study performed by the University of Florida (see our "Resources" tab for a link), a certified bed bug detection team has a 97% likelihood of finding the infestation and is capable of searching this same room in a couple of minutes. If a bed bug infestation is found during a search, the detection team will have narrowed it down to specific areas of your building. This will allow your pest control specialist to reduce the amount of area they will treat, decrease the amount of chemicals used and provide a significant cost savings to you. However, if the canine detection team does not find any bed bugs, then you can rest much easier with that knowledge!
Our scent detection specialist is a beagle named Ollie who was rescued from an animal shelter and trained at J&K Canine Academy in High Springs, Florida by the renowned Jose "Pepe" Peruyero, a retired K-9 police officer who has been scent training dogs for 18+ years. Their dogs are trained to detect the scent of live bugs and viable eggs, not dead bugs or cast-off skins. As part of their standard training procedures, their canines (including Ollie) detect live bed bugs on a daily basis and are capable of detecting as little as one adult bed bug. Upon completion of their training at J&K Canine Academy, Ollie and his handlers earned their accreditation by the National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association (NESDCA) as a certified bed bug detection team.
We are here to assist you with your potential/confirmed bed bug infestations and are willing to travel anywhere needed. Our services are very discreet and all records are kept confidential. We arrive in an unmarked vehicle, wear regular clothing with no company labels and bring Ollie inside using a special travel kennel which looks like a duffel bag. Once the requirements of our Pre-Inspection Checklist have been met, our team can search any type of building, vehicle or object for bed bugs. If they are found, we will gladly work together with your pest control company to ensure you the best possible service.
One final thing to keep in mind when dealing with bed bugs....time is of the essence! One female bed bug can lay over 500 eggs in one month. As you can imagine, it does not take long for a relatively minor infestation to turn in to a major one. The faster you react, the easier (and cheaper) it will be for a pest control company to eliminate the problem. However, the first step in getting rid of bed bugs is figuring out if you have them and where they are located....and Buckeye Bed Bug Detection, LLC can do exactly that for you!
